MLB Draft
So did you hear?
The Yanks are drafting Emilio Navarro! The name may sound just like any other name, but get this, he’s 102 years old! With that said, you know there must be something special about him to be drafted to the yankees at that age!
Navarro and 29 other former baseball players from their 70’s and up will be drafted to teams all around the majors. These players all have one thing in common, they are ex-Negro Leaguers. These men (and one woman) who were once rejected from playing in the major leagues many years ago, are being tributed by Major League Baseball so they can finally be a part of what they should have been from the start.
And who is the mastermind behind this idea for honoring the great former Negro League players? Just WHO made all of this possible? Well, it’s baseball’s great Dave Winfield! Or rather, San Diego’s great Dave Winfield (for those of us who know all the great things he did when he was here.)
He felt it was necessary to give recognition to all the players who came before him with none other than what they’d been waiting on for decades. And how right he is!
I’d like to say, GOOD JOB DAVE! You’re still doing great things for MLB even after retirement!
San Diego baseball fans love our Hall of Famer!
